THESE PAGES LAST UPDATED ON FEBRUARY 7th, 2005!

Pam is running behind on orders due between October and January due to a medical procedure and resulting therapy. Orders will be finished at a more slower pace and should be caught up within a month or so at the latest. At that time we will be switching over to a format of having items available on the page instead of it being orders only. That does not mean we will not do orders, just that we will be doing more items that can be purchased immediately. We have had MANY MANY requests for displaying items available for immediate purchase and due to a large order volume we have been unable to do this. This will solve the problem of having to delay finish dates for reasons beyond our control. We have been in business for almost 24 years and we assure you that all orders will be delivered as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience. Tim

QUILLED BAGS AND POUCHES!

Be sure and check out our link below for Beadwork...it features several optional wool and bead straps that can be used on these quilled bags. More pictures will be added to that page as I finish them.

QP202......This quilled turtle bag is my interpretation of design elements taken from an Eastern Algonkian pouch that I researched from a Museum collection. Only the birds were not on the original. The bag is appox. 8 1/4" long by approx. 8" wide. It is lined with Osnaburg. The edge is done in white glass beads and it is trimmed with brass cones and dyed deer hair. The quill colors are orange, brown and white. Bag can be ordered with a Osnaburg backed wool strap with bead edging or a quilled strap.

QP203.......This Ojibwa quilled pouch is quilled on dark dyed braintan and features an inside partition as well as a flint pouch sewn on the back. The bag is unlined. The turtle and thunderbird designs are early and the bottom shows a row of early capture/kill motifs. The flap has a silk ribbon band across it. It is trimmed with dyed deerhair/brass cones and has a glass bead edging. The photo does not do justice to the nice yellows/reds of the quill bands and line stitching.

QP204.......This Quilled Ojibwa-style Hunting Pouch is traditional sized and measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide by approx. 8 1/4 inches long excluding the cones and deer hair. It measures approx. 11 inches in total length with the cones. The bag is done in the traditional Thunderbird and Lightning motif and is trimmed with brass cones/glass beads and dyed deer hair. It is lined with Osnaburg. The edging is done with white glass beads. This would look great with a woodland style bead edged wool strap.

QP205....This Quilled Eastern Style bag measures approx. 8.5 inches by 9 inches excluding the cone/hair drops and features two intertwining rows of orange and gold, as well as a band of solid orange with black/white quill sawtooth triangular accents. The fold over flap has two rows of orange quilling with accent sections of brown and has a white glass bead scalloped edge. This bag is lined with Osnaburg. It is trimmed with brass cones and dyed hair both across the bottom and at the points of the scallops on the flap. This bag and flap are edged with white glass beading. The strap that was ordered with this is a quilled old Iroquois border design pattern horn strap that is on our quilled strap page. The picture truly does not do this bag justice or show the nice color contrasts of the orange and gold quillwork.

QP206.....This customer order is very similar to the bag done for Griffings new book and , in fact, was ordered because of it. I do not know if this is taken from an original design or not, only that it was in the book. It measures approx. 8 3/4 inches wide by approx. 10 1/4 inches and is quilled on dark smoked braintan. This bag is lined with osnaburg and edged with white glass beads. It is trimmed with dyed deer hair and brass cones across the top part and the bottom edge. This bag was ordered with a plain red wool traditional strap attached.

QP207...This is two views of a Quilled Eastern Bag with bead edging. This bag measures approx. 10 inches by 10 inches. This bag was ordered with the middle space left blank for trade silver, a beautiful addition to the quillwork. The center scalloped flap is decorative only and does not cover a second pocket. The bag is lined with osnaberg. Although it does not show well in the picture, just below the top floral pattern is a solid band of yellow quillwork. Above the lower quilled scalloped area is a thin line of red quilling. The bead edging is done with white glass beads. Available with or without a strap, this one was made to order without because the customer originally wanted to weave a strap for it from homespun wool.

QP208......OJIBWA "UNDERWATER PANTHER" BAG. This quilled pouch measures approx. 10" by 10" and is on smoked braintan. The customer ordered a quilled strap from the horn strap page to go with this bag and the pattern accents the quilling on the bag beautifully. This bag can be ordered with or without a quilled strap. A wider brain tan leather thong can be substituted as well as adding quill wrapping on the thong.

QP209.....This quilled bag is quilled on BOTH sides and the picture shows the back and front of the same bag. It is my interpretation of several 18th century "Otter" shaped carry bags that I have researched. It is done on dark smoked/dyed braintan. It measures 19" from bag bottom to the top point (without the cone drops) and 21" with the cone drops. The bag is 5 1/4" wide. The edging is red glass beads except for the top which is white. It features a thong tie closure at the point. It is trimmed with brass cones and red dyed deer hair on the bottom two "legs". Silk Ribbon trim and/or quill wrapped drops can be added to this bag if desired.
